2016

FIRST FORAY INTO THE ANGLE -- THE "WOLF PACK"

Quality and quantity (plus a little less hair and a little more gray).

THE BASICS --
Dates: February 25-28, 2016*
Water: Lake of the Woods
Location: Northwest Angle
Outfitter: Edman's Ice Adventures (used their house but booked through very small independent)
Fishermen: Michael Collins, John Groppoli, Eric Kraus & Nick Schwarz
Accommodations: Sleeper

FISHING STATS --
Waypoint:  Lat. 49°17'52.91"N, Long.  94°53'15.51"W
Depth: 25-28 ft (sleeper -- moved once during weekend)
Approximate Number Caught: 125
Notable Catches: More walleyes than saugers

(1) Fellas take over bomber after it dies on way back to truck on Sunday; (2) Beautiful bomber -- the paint job, at least; (3) Fellas with a nice limit of 'eyes and saugers; (4) Infamous red shirt -- late evening bite in portable; (5) Solid northern caught jigging on open ice off island drop-off; (6) Normie with another quality walleye.

Roughin' it . . . NOTE: fritters, donuts in pail, brauts -- to be paired with 'kraut and Swiss, pizza (still on cardboard, thanks to MC), Lift Bridge with fresh walleye sandwich (to stay under bag limit), and Galifianakis (Hangover).

Just getting to the lake was an adventure: (1 & 2) Crossing into Manitoba, (3) Phone booth at "Jim's Corner," (4) Killing time waiting for the bomber at Jerry's (northern-most bar in lower 48), (5) Dragging MC's new Suburban out of the ditch (lakeside), (6) Driving with the outfitter's angry uncle to the sleeper.
